Thanks to Talk Poverty for the basic statistics on poverty.
How does a system of economics that creates over 100 million (1 out of 3 Americans) citizens without adequate basic needs considered effective in a democracy?
Because the citizens don’t realize that democracy, the economic system and the political system are completely separated. Democracy is the curtain of propaganda that allows politicians to manipulate citizens. But doesn’t play a part in the election of officials, policy, and or laws. Politics exists in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government where the property / business owners and their henchmen enforce rule over citizens. Economics is the tool that enslaves citizens making them subject to the decisions of politics.
How does a system of economics that puts 1 out of 3 Americans in real poverty exist in a democracy?
There is little evidence to suggest that citizens are satisfied with the current economic system yet in American democracy the quality of life remains the same for some, worse for many, and better for a few.
